From vintage to the promise of the future, the renewed interest in analog modular synthesizers in the 2000s, and the enthusiasm they arouse today among composers and sound artists of all generations, to the point of having revived the analog market and remotivated manufacturers, merit a closer look. To this end, we have gathered the views of François Bonnet, director of INA's Groupe de Recherches Musicales GRM, interviewed Canadian sound artist Sarah Davachi, and gathered information on performer Thomas Ankersmit and his "Serge", with which he has conquered the international scene.
