With nine albums to her credit over the past twenty years, Colleen, aka Cécile Schott, is a French composer and singer based in Barcelona, often overlooked in France but respected in the English-speaking world. She is the author of an exemplary musical oeuvre, singular and unclassifiable, exploring, depending on the album, a variety of instruments, her own voice of course, but also sampling and viola da gamba, bells and natural sounds, thumb piano, music boxes or, more recently, synthesizers, as is the case with her latest double album, Le jour et la nuit du réel. An all-instrumental, electronic album in which the trance of machines becomes sensitive and intimate.
