The conscious harp of Julie Campiche

Sound Portraits 26.07.2022

Julie Campiche is a very special kind of harpist. She takes her instrument to unknown lands, makes it explore unsuspected sonorities and embrace unusual musical roles. After studying classical harp in Geneva and Lyon, she turned to the study of jazz, which she pursued for more than fifteen years, completing her studies at the renowned Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU). As an improviser and composer, Julie Campiche does not hesitate to confront her harp with electronic effects, to bring it into contact with the worlds of theater and performance, to bring it into contact with the art of the trapeze artist Vanessa Pahud, and even to confront jazz and baroque aesthetics with the meeting of her quartet and the ensemble Capella Jenensis. We met her in Strasbourg during her concerts at the festival Jazz à la Petite France.
